Laya Healthcare Redirects Claim Cost Savings Back to Members
We welcomed the Government’s decision announced on Friday, 29th May 2020 to give back control of private hospitals at the end of June 2020, as originally planned. The Government’s actions in March were taken in the best interest of the nation in response to an unprecedented healthcare crisis, and we welcome the progress that’s been made in the fight against Covid-19.
At laya healthcare, we were proud to play our part in the collective national effort and we’d like to thank our members for their patience and understanding while private hospitals were re-organised during this time.
Putting money back in your pocket
As per our original commitment, we have redirected claim cost-savings to members.
In April, we announced that while hospitals were reorganised as a result of Covid-19, we would redirect claim cost-savings in the form of a benefit to the amount of €195 for every adult member and €60 for every child member. For a family of 2 adults + 2 children, that’s a total of €510. To date we have completed payments in April, May & June, with some members receiving a final instalment benefit payment in July.
Members must have a current active policy on the 1st of each month to have qualified for the monthly instalment.
In other good news, we’re delighted to announce that we are extending our unrestricted healthcare benefits to our members until the end of December 2021.

We're providing greater access to essential healthcare benefits & services.
This means increasing our team of GPs and Physios that are available to our members and removing existing restrictions at no additional cost until the end of December 2021, so members can access key benefits and services remotely when they need them.

We were in touch directly with members to confirm details on the redirected claim cost savings paid as a benefit. This was returned in the same way we’d pay an everyday medical claim with the first instalment paid by the 30th April 2020.
