Statement on Modern Slavery

Introduction and Purpose of this Statement

Modern slavery refers to institutional slavery that occurs in present-day society. It can take various forms including human trafficking, servitude, slavery and compulsory labour, the common factor being that they deprive an individual’s liberty for commercial gain.

The Republic of Ireland has governing legislation on modern slavery, primarily the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act 2008, as amended by the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) (Amendment) Act 2013. Laya healthcare has pledged towards maintaining and continuously improving our procedures in order to combat modern slavery and dedicates this Statement to that effect on behalf of laya healthcare, laya life and laya travel (together and hereinafter “laya healthcare”).
