Feelings of wellbeing are vital to an individual’s overall health. It enables people to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve what they want out of life. We want to live happier, healthier lives every day and ensure that we, and our families, have a high quality of life. And ‘live better’ encapsulates so much more than physical health. It also includes mental health and mindfulness. In turn a happy and healthy workforce is a more focused, energetic and loyal team with much lower levels of absenteeism. Our health & wellbeing team deliver a range of modern and innovative services to evaluate, engage and motivate employees and their families to make changes and most importantly to stick to them.
Did you know, according to the Irish Heart Foundation, approximately 10,000 people die each year from Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), and is the number one cause of death globally. In Ireland, CVD accounts for 32% of all deaths annually. CVD is an umbrella term used to describe diseases of the heart, including coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, peripheral arterial disease and aortic disease. Unfortunately, some people who have CHD, present no symptoms of the disease. Screening can be of paramount importance in identifying risk factors and the silent symptoms that may pose a risk to future health and wellbeing.
Laya Healthcare can deliver our high end heart screening programme called HeartBeat to your employees. Benchmark results of our HearBeat Screening show that up to 6.2% of employees require a cardiac follow-up, and up to 51.2% of males have an overweight BMI rate.
Other research conducted indicates that 82% of Irish employees are suffering increased stress levels, which has a knock on effect on workplace morale, productivity and recruitment. Our Mental health in the workplace guide looks at how a company can develop and implement a proactive strategy which addresses key challenges and issues facing Irish organisations today.
