Accessibility statement
Laya's commitment to accessibility
At Laya Healthcare, we believe everyone should be able to access our products and services with ease. We are committed to ensuring that our digital platform, including layahealthcare.ie and our mobile app, are inclusive, user-friendly, and accessible to all, regardless of ability, technology, or circumstance.
Standards we follow
We are working on designing and developing our digital touch-points to align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. These guidelines provide clear criteria for making digital content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including those related to vision, hearing, mobility, and cognition.
How we are working towards accessibility
We are taking several steps to help ensure that our website and mobile app are accessible:
- Accessibility is considered at every stage of our design and development process
- We have audited our digital platform against WCAG 2.2 AA standards and will commit to doing so regularly
- Our content is written in plain language where possible for better clarity
- We are working on how we can use semantic HTML and ARIA attributes to support screen readers in future
Accessibility features
We are working on key features that will help make our website more accessible:
- Alt text for images to support screen reader users
- Logical heading structures for easier navigation
- High colour contrast between text and background
- Focus indicators to assist keyboard users
- Responsive design that adapts to different screen sizes and devices
Known issues
We strive to maintain a high level of accessibility at all times, but we acknowledge that some areas of our website are not fully accessible yet.
These include:
- Electronic documents created before 28th June 2025 may not fully meet accessibility guidelines. Future versions of these will be fully complaint with WCAG 2.2 standards.
- Certain accessibility issues have been identified in aspects of our sales journey, and we will work to ensure they meet accessibility standards.
- Images on our website are missing alternative text or may have headings in incorrect semantic order. These issues are being identified and resolved.
- Our digital platform currently does not fully support screen readers. This issue is being investigated with a view to becoming screen reader compliant.
Establishment of this declaration of accessibility
