If you are admitted to a public hospital through A&E, laya healthcare will of course fully cover the €80 public patient charge directly, under normal terms and conditions. But did you know that if you sign the private health insurance waiver form the hospital will charge laya healthcare up to €813 per night? That's 10 times more for exactly the same treatment with no additional services!
So next time - remember: if you sign the waiver form make sure you are getting additional private services. If you don’t receive additional services you are being treated as a public patient but charged as a private patient which is unfair and ultimately pushing premiums up.
